Four months before the Jurchen cavalry swallows China, a low-rank Song soldier decides: no court, no army — I'll rob my way to an army of my own.

Xuanhe year seven. The Jurchen are massing; the Song court is dancing. A small garrison drill-sergeant in Daming Prefecture knows the historical clock: less than four months until the Central Plains sink into the Jingkang humiliation. If the dynasty insists on falling, someone must out-law the invaders on the way down, village by burning village.
