Two boys in a dying steel town: one the fallen golden child, one the fostered stray with a bruised face and no paperwork. Neither can leave — so they start running at each other instead.

Jiang Cheng, ex-child-prodigy shipped to his estranged father's factory town, and Fu Cheng, the battered kid the neighbours quietly feed, meet at the gym and in the school ranks. Wu Zhe's most beloved novel: cold small-town air, warm hands, and 'wanting to be your friend' as a love confession.
